What Makes a Bathroom Faucet Modern?

If you have outdated faucets in your bathroom, you can easily update them with a more modern design.
New shower and bathroom sink faucets will totally change the look of your bathroom.
Modern faucets typically have a sleek, contemporary design with minimalist details. They can also have innovative technology like touchless operation, built-in sensors, temperature control, special finishes that protect against wear, and some have high quality ceramic disc cartridges.
How to Choose Modern Bathroom Faucets

There are a few things you should consider when you’re picking out your new faucets. You’ll want to change both your shower and/or tub faucet and your sink faucet to match. Think about these things when you’re making your choice:
Determine Your Budget:
Before you start looking for a new bathroom faucet, you should decide what you are willing to spend. Knowing your budget will help you narrow down your choices and know up front what features and materials you can afford. There are a lot of faucets to choose from and this will make it a lot easier.
Consider Your Existing Sink and Shower Faucet Configuration:
Different bathroom faucets are designed to fit different sink and shower configurations. Make sure to take accurate measurements of your sink before shopping. Keep them handy so that you can choose a faucet that will fit correctly.
If your sink currently has a single hole faucet, you’ll have to replace it with a single handle faucet. There won’t be enough holes for a two-handled faucet.
The same goes for your shower or tub faucet, whatever configuration is currently there will determine the configuration of your new faucet. If you have a single-lever design, it will be near impossible to switch to a double, unless you want to replace your shower wall.
Choose the Right Finish:
Bathroom faucets come in a variety of finishes, so you’ll want to choose one that complements the other fixtures in your bathroom.
Unless you’re changing your bathroom vanity handles and knobs, towel racks or hooks, and other bathroom accessories, you’ll want to match your faucet with the existing finishes.
Popular modern finishes right now are black, gold, or mixed metals. If you don’t want to have to change your faucet because the finish goes out of style, you can choose a timeless finish.
Choose a more modern design with a finish that never goes out of style, like chrome.

Select the Right Style:
You can get a more modern look with faucets that have more timeless designs.
There are some faucets that just look outdated, and some that look like they could belong in any design with any decor.
Bathroom faucets come in a variety of styles, ranging from traditional to contemporary.
Consider the overall design of your bathroom when selecting a style, and think about which one best reflects your taste and style.
Look for Quality Features:
Look for features like a ceramic disc or ball valve cartridges. They are both high quality and are designed to provide a lifetime of smooth and drip-free operation. A ceramic cartridge is the best option if you have hard water.
Other features like a finish made of rust-resistant material, the thickness of the plated metal, and other special features that protect against wear and tear.
Consider Water Flow:
Water flow may not matter if you have a regular depth and widespread bathroom sink faucet currently. If you have a shallow and small sink, water flow matters a lot, because a higher pressure flow will splash out of the sink.
Consider a waterfall spout for shallow bathroom sinks.

Our Bathroom Faucets Makeover

When we moved into our house, we were grateful the bathroom had recently been remodeled. However, with that being said, we knew our first update would be the shower and sink faucets.
The original faucets in our bathroom were the shiny chrome that you would find in any standard build design.

Travis started by removing the current tub spicket, handle, and showerhead. Once he removed the old ones, he installed the new, modern, black faucets.
He replaced the spicket and handle with the Moen Lindoor Matte Black set.

And, while the set came with a new shower head, we purchased a new shower head/wand combo separately.

Once the tub and shower faucets were replaced, he swapped out the old sink faucets. Again, we picked out a matte black finish.
Here is the before picture of the bathroom faucets. As you can see, they were very low profile, and not visually appealing.

To give the bathroom an inexpensive makeover, we choose a sleek faucet design.

We hope you’ve enjoyed the transformation of our bathroom faucets. We will share more of our bathroom makeover as it happens.
