If you’re planning to visit Western North Carolina, especially in the Fall, the Jeter Mountain Farm is one stop you don’t want to miss.
This past weekend, my family and I, along with our daughter’s friend, took a trip to Jeter Mountain Apple Orchard in Hendersonville, North Carolina.
With the beautiful Fall weather – around 75 degrees, cloud cover, and a light breeze – it was the perfect day for a family adventure.

The Jeter Mountain Farm, located in Hendersonville NC, offers a little bit of everything for the entire family.
We started our visit by exploring the playground. Kids of all ages can have fun in this area – even the adults who enjoy playing like kids.
Yes, Travis and I both enjoy shooting hoops in the Johnny Appleseed playground area.

After the play area, we checked out the local goodies in the Market area. There, you can find fresh cider, local goods, crafts, and all things apple related.
The hard cider and non-alcoholic cider are popular picks. But, if your kid is like ours, the stuffed animals and small trinkets are also popular picks.
Knowing we had to carry whatever we purchased around the orchard with us, we decided to just get some beverages and come back to the market at the end of our family adventure.

When leaving the market, we stopped to enjoy the live band playing tunes for the perfect fall day.
Just on the outside portion of the market, there are picnic tables and another section where you can get local beers and hard cider to enjoy on a fall day.
I saw several parents enjoying a flight of hard cider while the kids danced around to the live music.
And, of course, no trip to an apple orchard is complete without indulging in some hot apple cider donuts. These were the melt-in-your-mouth kind of delicousness!

Apple Picking in WNC Mountains
The highlight of our visit was the wagon ride to the orchard to pick our own apples.
This orchard, located in the mountains of Western North Carolina, is absolutely beautiful!

We filled our basked with honeycrisp apples fresh off the trees.
The orchard also offered grapes and blueberries for biking, but we were just a little too late for the blackberry and peach season.
No worries, though – next year’s trip is already in the works for some fresh berries before they’re all gone.

While we wanted to grab lunch at the on-site food truck, the line was a bit long, and we had to head back home.
One great convenience of Jeter Mountain is the shuttle wagon that takes you to and from the parking lot. This way, we didn’t have to carry our basket of apples very far – such a nice touch after a full day of fun!
